Description
All these Grieg favorites, arranged by Mike Cornick, will be very familiar to pianists but perhaps not in this guise. Mike has arranged them for one piano, four hands, the ubiquitous piano duet that was so popular decades ago in the days before gramophones. The selection starts with possibly Grieg's best known work, the theme of the second movement of the Piano Concerto. The fame of that music was, of course, helped by Morecambe, Wise and Previn but you will find no "right notes … in the wrong order" in Mike's masterly arrangement. The book also contains pieces from Peer Gynt, Lyric Pieces and Two Elegiac Melodies and will be great material for intermediate players to present at a festival or concert.
Works:
- 2nd Movement from Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op. 16
- To elegiske melodier (Version for Piano), Op. 34
- Solveig's Song, No. 4 from Peer Gynt Suite No. 2 (Version for Piano 4-hands), Op. 55
- Arietta, No. 1 from Lyric Pieces (Book I), Op. 12
- Remembrances, No. 7 from Lyric Pieces (Book X), Op. 71
- Anitra's Dance from Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 (Version for Piano 4-hands), Op. 46
