Description

Although not ignored, the Second Edition of Geminiani's, Op. 2 Concertos has received little attention from commentators, editors and performers, compared to the 1732 ‘main version' of the concertos. Geminiani's six Concertos, Op. 2 were first published in 1732, in an edition prepared under the direct supervision of the composer and published at his own expense. in 1751 a new edition was published, ‘printed for the Author by John Johnson'. The new version was based on the original edition, but included added ornamentation and articulation, different tempo marks, and other changes in detail. Despite all the additions and changes, this did not turn out to be Geminiani's final thoughts on his, Op. 2 Concertos. in 1755 a new edition was published, probably in Paris, and not in parts like the 1732 and 1751 editions, but in score.
