Description
The songs based on texts by Adolf Friedrich von Schack were published for the first time in the years 1886–1888. The composition dates are not known. in, Op. nos. 15, 17 and 19, almost all of the texts used by Strauss were written by Schack; he only interpolated the Michelangelo madrigal in, Op. 15.
Strauss dedicated the song Heimkehr to his aunt Johanna Pschorr, an alto.
The song Wie sollten wir geheim sie halten conceives love as fulfilled togetherness: when two people find each other through love.
