Description
Greek Song is a piece by Manolis Kalomiris for Alto Saxophone and Piano. Initially composed for Voice and Piano and first published in 1929, this work was arranged by Théodore Kerkezos. It lasts for approximately four minutes and was influenced by music of the Greek country and would be really nice for a recital. Quite difficult and suitable for upper intermediate players or above, this lovely piece is divided into two main sections: Andante con moto and Sherzando, with the second part being much more energetic than the first. This piece can also be played by a Soprano Saxophone. Manolis Kalomiris (1883-1962) is a Greek classical composer. He studied in Vienna and Russia before settling in Athens where he became Director of the Athens Conservatoire. He produced more than two hundred pieces.
