Description
The Sonatina was written during the 1963 Easter vacation for a young Cambridge scientist, John Fletcher, who gave helpful advice on what could and couldn't be played on a tuba, and subsequently gave several performances. He later gave up science, recorded the Sonatina for the BBC, who first broadcast it on January 9th 1968, and went on to become probably the world''s most musical tuba player. The work is demanding to play but is a seriously good addition to the tuba recital repertoire.
