Description

"The Maverick is a much beloved concert hall in Woodstock, New York. During the more than 100 years of presenting concerts, the Maverick has hosted many of the most celebrated classical and jazz musicians from all over the world. The hall is a unique, three-sided structure with wonderful acoustics. Nestled in the woods, it is a delightful place to listen to music in an idyllic, natural environment.

In 2015 I was honored to be commissioned to compose a piece for the Maverick's 100th anniversary. Written for flute and guitar, the four movements are: Celebration and Dance, Gratitude (in memory of the founders, musicians, and all of those who have made these concerts possible), Maverick Woods (with an optional improvisatory section), and Mountain Song. " - Frederic Hand
