Description
Practical Harmony is a monumental anthology in four volumes comprising nearly two hundred compositions by Italian, German, English and Austrian composers chosen by Clementi in his combined role of editor and, in some cases, arranger. Above all, the double and self-evident destination for organ and piano, in itself not new but nevertheless not so frequent, since it deals with a choice of compositions mostly concerning the so-called "stile osservato". The name of each instrument is printed on the same line and in the same font. If then, we add to this that an appropriate number of pieces is taken from what can more correctly be called the harpsichord repertoire, the anthology acquires what could be described as a distinctive and even more interesting ‘keyboard eclecticism'.
