Description
The unique six-part vocal scoring in Bach's Sanctus in D, BWV 232.1, written for Christmas 1724, is for three sopranos, alto, tenor and bass. Almost a quarter of a century later, this powerful and striking work became (in a revised version) part of Bach's Mass in B Minor, BWV 232.4, having previously been performed several times in its original form as an independent work in services at Leipzig's main churches.
