Description

Does anyone not know the Little Prince? Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's story has been translated into many languages and is known all over the world. Peter Wittrich (*1959) set to music those individual figures and fairytale scenes, emotional and spiritual experiences, transforming them into an experience in sound.

The Little Prince is read and loved by several generations, so my own cycle of pieces should also appeal across the generations, to all age groups. These are not primarily pieces for children, though children will enjoy them very much; this is music to suit contemporary tastes with artistic flair and educational merit, equally suitable for use in teaching and concert performance and also providing accessible and easy contemporary piano repertoire for more mature players starting or returning to the piano.

Contents:

  1. The little prince from asteroid B 612
  2. Flight over the desert and crash
  3. Sleeping in the desert and an auspicious dream
  4. Draw me a sheep … a snake … and an elephant swallowed by a snake
  5. On the asteroids 523 – 530
  6. Journey to the next planet I
  7. March of the vain man
  8. The little prince sings a taming song to the fox
  9. Intermezzo in the desert
  10. Watering flowers
  11. The baobabs
  12. Journey to the next planet II
  13. The Lamplighter's advice
  14. Serenade for the Lamplighter
  15. The cunning fox follows the little prince wherever he goes
