Crosse: Piano Trio

Description

The first movement is generally slow in tempo, and proceeds through two climaxes to a quiet coda where the pitch subsides to G. It uses an ultra-simple folksong-like theme whose opening four or five notes have been constantly prefigured in earlier sections. The second movement is a Scherzo/Finale, the end of which makes reference to the first movement in which the coda uses the folksong theme to end abruptly, and with a question mark.
