Description
From Webern's early period (pre-opus one), this tone poem is inspired by a poem by the German novelist-philosopher Bruno Willle (1860-1928), famous as a liberal and progressive thinker. Written in 1904 and first performed in 1962 by the Philadelphia Orchestra under the baton of Eugene Ormandy, the piece is an impressionistic description of a summer day in the woods and fields. This full score is freshly engraved and corrected using the MOLA (Major Orchestra Librarian's Association) circulated list of discrepancies and corrections. Orchestral parts are available for rental.
