Description
De cartes et d'estampes is a set of five (not thematically connected) pieces for three flutes. It is possible to perform piano improvisations between the pieces.
I was inspired by the kind of exotic sounds and music worlds so masterfully championed by Trio d'Argent, to whom the work is dedicated. The title is a quote from Charles Baudelaire's Le Voyage, a poem dedicated to Maxim Du Camp:
"To a child who is fond of maps end engravings, The world equals his desire and expectations".

Commissionned by the Trio d'Argent. Premiered on March 14th 2014, during the Cartes Blances du Trio d'Argent at Les Lilas (France), by the Trio d'Argent.
