Description
The ballet Romeo and Juliet was originally written by Sergei Prokofiev (1891-1953) in 1935. However, running afoul of the Soviet censors who disliked the happier ending (departing from Shakespeare's tragic ending), the premiere of the complete ballet was postponed until 1940, after the work was heavily revised. Morning Serenade (Aubade) takes place near the end the end of Act 3. This arrangement by Lazar Gosman includes the following instrumentation: Perc(1): Str (8-8-3/3-6.0 in set): Solo Violin in set.
