Description

Conca reatina - Ruban de Möbius (Moebius Strip) was commissioned by Claude and Odile Delangle. Composed between 2015 and 2017, the piece is loosely inspired by the wonderful scenery and graceful curves of the Reatini Mountains in central Italy. The idea gradually came to me while vacationing in the town of Rieti: from my window, I could see the mountain ridges, following their undulation like musical arabesques. A rather virtuosic piece, Conca reatina is not based on a theme or a motif, but rather on a Moebius strip-like compositional gesture that drives the musical flow. continuous or composed of discrete elements, it undergoes many transformations throughout the piece, at times periodic, broken or completely blurred, in danger of being lost. An acoustic equivalent of the famous optic illusion, the piece always brings the listener back to his starting point, the initial moment being delayed a little further each time, as if the strip itself was put into perspective. Imitating itself at times and entering into a dialogue with its own echo, the sound stream always manages to regain the vital impetus and the jubilation that are the very core of its identity.
