Description
The key to one of the most important collections of piano works by Liszt. Notes from numerous sources in the new edition of 'Etudes d'execution transcendante'(1851) the music has been revised and corrected. These corrections were drawn from numerous sources (including the 1837 version of Grandes Etudes appearing in the appendix) and complemented by variations previously disregarded and with Liszt's own fingerings. Also included is the critical edition of the alternative version of Etude No. 11 (Harmonies du soir from 1876) and, published for the first time, the critical edition of two 'Grandes Etudes'. The notes on interpretation are based exclusively on historical sources, such as documentation left by Liszt's pupils and the analysis of performance instructions in the early edition.
