Description
Concerti for Violin, Orchestra and Synthesized Sound was completed by Milton Babbitt in 1977. It was not performed and went through the hands of many owners until it was discovered in the library of the Juilliard School in 2015. A partial tape of the synthesized sound was also found that same year by Babbitt's daughter. Using the score and the existing tape as a basis, the missing section of tape was created, and the work was finally premiered at the Juilliard Focus Festival of 2016, which marked Babbitt's centenary. This work was the penultimate composition by Babbitt in which he incorporated synthesized sound. It is in a Major addition to his catalogue of works.
