Description
The préludes in this collection were written between September 2016 and January 2017, and are presented in the order in which they were composed. They may beperformed by themselves, in any combination and any order, may be combined with any préludes written prior to and subsequent to these, and may be mixed freely with études from Books I-X. No pianist should play none of them. Not ever, never.
A performance of the complete book, with pauses between pieces, will take between 30 and 35 minutes.
In concert programs, the pieces should be identified as "Préludes for Piano" and the number of each prélude attached to its title.
Special thanks are due Amy Briggs. At her suggestion, every fourteenth prelude should appropriate music from the composer 's second piano concerto, written for her. Thus does #70, Bronze, use music from that piece's first movement.
The tempi may vary in performance as long as the character of the music is preserved.
The titles of the préludes in Book VII are all color names because why not?
